Mark J Stock
Exploring Mark J Stock's website www.markjstock.com , i came across many interesting pictures that amazed me! Here are some of my favorite pictures:
"Sunset On Squares"
"Inside The Bomb"
& my all time Favorite is
"Droplet"
"In my observance of fluid motion in nature, certain shapes and patterns most often come to mind: the thin wispy structure of an old cloud, a candle flame, roiling smoke from a smokestack, or wavy mirages in a pot of water soon after I turn the heat on. These patterns, and their manifestations, are still multilayered physical systems, with the effects of viscosity, inertia, baroclinicity, combustion, heat transfer, surface tension, reflection, and refraction all playing a role". (Mark Stock)
I found Mark J stock's art very interesting because the viewer doesn't understand what the artwork actually means when they first look at it until you read the caption below each picture. You can tell that his artwork is very personal and that only the artist can relate to it. His art pieces are mostly different, and as you can see in this picture below, he is using the grid technique for his art. Using a grid always helps you draw better because that way there is more symmetry, especially when drawing a human face or cartoon. I also noticed that Mark Stock doesn't use a lot of color in his work and sticks to more basic colors like black and white.

Steve Jobs' Speech
"you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever."
When i first watched this video speech by Steve Jobs i was really inspired by his stories when he was younger, not every successful celebrity or person would talk the way he did. Narrating his life of how he started university then dropped out is not the way we've been taught, but not everybody that has graduated with a diploma has to be successful. He has come a long way, and with his help, we have access to all these new technologies that have made our lives much much easier! When we watched the documentary "The triumph of the nerds" I got a sense of how Steve Jobs was around people and his co workers, he never gave up and saw the best in everything and was a major perfectionist. He wanted to apply his thoughts and ideas to the technology world making everybody's lives much easier. I heard that he has planned five years ahead of technologies for apple when he knew he was dying and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. May he rest in peace, he has changed all of our lives and he truly is and will always be found a legend not only in our generation but in the next generation as well. What i found shocking was when i heard that Steve jobs was tripping on acid when he came up with the apple software. I quoted Steve jobs above, it was one my favorite quotes said by him in this video and i couldn't help but get goosebumps because as humans, its easy for us to quit, but after watching this video, he has changed the way I think.

Weber & Fields Routine*
Now that we are used to the newest types of technologies that have the best sound systems and picture perfect qualities, listening to this radio broadcast in comparison from the 1930s gives us a hard time understanding what is going on and what they are saying. The sound isn't very clear and you can barely concentrate on what the "actors" are trying to say. You can easily compare the new radio that we listen to in our cars, and this radio which was very static.I chose a comedy radio broadcast called "Weber & Fields Routine". What i really like was the music in the beginning. The music from the early 20s and 30s are very happy melodies and tunes and whenever i hear them i cant help but smile! Its funny how technology plays such a huge role in our lives and how it has changed only within a century.

Orange Clockworks Vs. The Jazz Singer*
When i first watched the scene in the movie "jazz singer" singing in the rain I couldnt help but smile because it was such a joyful moment and you could sense the actor's happiness by the way he moved in the rain and sang and simply by his facial expressions. On the other hand, when i watched the scene in Orange Clockworks where one of the main characters started singing the same song "singing in the rain" I didnt have the same reaction because they had just broken into a familys house where the family welcomed and offered to help and all they got in return was violence. While he was singing the song, i found it really disturbing because they had compared two completely different scenes where the actor in jazz singer is innocent and simply sings becuase he is in love while the other character was singing and hitting the couple with a big smile on his face showing us that we was enjoying it and that he felt good about what he was doing. I believe using the same song for both movies was a bad idea because the lyrics and the song refers to happiness rather than pain in this case. What i noticed was that the drugs were influencing Alex to be violent and cause him to act this way, what the movie wants to show you is that Alex has become violent because of the environment he grew up in and the society he lived with not because he wanted to hurt people without any intentions. Both musicals are completely different where The jazz singer was created in the 50s and the Orange Clockwork in the mid 70s. You could tell that a lot has changed within only 20 years! Drugs and rock and roll were big during the 70s and you can see that it had a great effect on people's lifestyles and choices. Movies from the 50s were very elegant and classy and didn't reveal a lot or show a lot of violence. Movies like "Breakfast at Tiffanys" or "Roman holiday" that came out in the 50s were very peaceful and all about simplicity, families were closer, violence wasnt found as much as it is today, and resources were met. Even today comparing movies to the 50s or 70s, we can clearly see a huge difference, thanks to the help of creativity and technology!
Flipbook Animation Inspiration*
These are three videos that i believe have inspired me to create my own flipbook that consists of mainly plants and nature and transitions throughout the day capturing the essence of the night as well. I decided to stick to something simple and not so complicated since Im not really the best artist and can barely draw a stick figure. My flipbook first starts with a seed growing into a beautiful flower that has more flowers attached to the same stem. you can realize how the petals start to grow in each page and how the sun moves and basically how nature works. Then I transformed the plant from the ground into a pot where it was now taken care of indoors. Slowly the pot transitions into another object which evolves into a palm tree slowly growing as you flip the book. In each page i concentrated on the details so that you could tell the simple differences. The focus later is of the birds flying leaving the palm tree to an island and you begin to see an island emerging with a palm tree and other species as well that live by the water. Then it transitions into night, and the island starts going back into the water showing how islands go above or beneath sea levels depending on the strength of the tide. Its no longer a fun sunny day once the moon has come out and then the focus is on the night time and what appears to be in the sky. The last thing i focused on was an emerging sun from the bottom welcoming another day. When i first started it i felt like i wasnt so sure what i had to do but once i started drawing ideas kept on running through my mind and i started connecting them and adding a few things. I had a great time working on this project, although what i despised was repeating the same drawing over and over again!
